The Richtersveld, or Namaqualand as it is more widely known, is one of the least explored regions in South Africa. Those who travel here, find a world surprisingly diverse, often starkly beautiful.
   For long the myth was perpetuated that this is all 4x4 terrain. Though some areas are the avid off roaders' dream (or nightmare, as you wish), anyone, with two or four wheels, has ample room to explore.
   In many areas where, because of diamond mining, access had traditionally been restricted, one can now roam free.
