The small town of Sandrift lies on the main route from Alexander Bay to the Richtersveld National Park.

It is the last town before the Park and is also the start of a four wheel drive trail through the Richtersveld and a weekend eco-canoe trail, down the Orange River to Brandkaros and Pachtvlei. Its strategic location makes it an ideal stop over place. Located right on the banks of the Orange River.

Plans are afoot to accommodate visitors at a guesthouse and campsite and there is already a well stocked shop where visitors can buy basic provisions.
